6 bending licks for blues harmonica
Updated: Oct 22, 2021
Bending is one of the most important techniques for getting a really bluesy sound on the harmonica. In these lessons you'll learn how to use draw-bends and blow-bends to create some really cool blues licks.
Blues bending lick #1
Lick 1 uses holes 1 and 2 for a low-down and dirty sound.
Blues bending lick #2
In our second lesson we move up to holes 2 and 3 and work on moving between the half-step and whole-step bend on three draw.
Blues bending lick #3
For our third lick we'll be starting at hole 4 and working our way down to hole 2, bending notes on holes 2, 3 and 4 in the process.
Blues bending lick #4
We'll now be moving up to the blow-bends, practising the 8 hole blow-bend for lick 4.
Blues bending lick #5
Lick #5 moves between holes 7, 8 and 9 to give a sweet bluesy sound.
Blues bending lick #6
For our final lick we'll be using holes 7-10 including a tricky bend on hole 10.
